Thermostat is an important part of the the cooling system of Isuzu Trooper. It is the one responsible in controlling the right temperature of the engine for maximum performance. However, for some reasons, some mechanics opt to remove this to have the car avoid overheating. But the big question is, what is the overall effect in the performance if this is removed?

It will affect the engines' fuel economy. The idea is, the cooler the engine is, the weaker it is. And this can be observed especially if you have been driving a car for quite sometime.
With thermostat, the normal temperature of a Trooper should be at the middle of the guage. If it does not have a thermostat, it will fall to 1/4 of the guage only.
The fears of the most mechanic with the thermostat is during malfunctions. It can cause overheating that can cause too many problems in effect. To avoid this, they opt to remove this sacrificing the fuel efficiency of the car.
On the owner's perspective however, it is important that we always monitor our engine's temperature. In that way, we can both take advantage of the fuel efficiency and the power of the engine and even avoid overheating in case thermostat malfunctions.
Where is it located?
If you have a 4JX1 engine, you can find this at the end of the upper radiator tube going to engine (inside).
This is also an easy repair. The only difficult thing to remove is the air intake pipe.
